The product range of FWT Composites & Rolls GmbH includes composite rollers, tubes, drive shafts, special components, roller coating as well as roller service.

FWT is one of the world leading manufacturers of CFRP rolls for paper machines.
paper guide rollers, guide rollers for belts or felts, rollers for the dryer section, shaked breast rollers and calendar guide rollers.
In the paper machine the focus is always on increasing productivity, improving product quality and maintaining maximum machine availability. This can be achieved on the one hand by faster systems, but also by reducing vibrations. Both are guaranteed by our products.
Here the range of application contains packaging material as well as aluminium foils and high-tech films.
Carbon fibre rollers are used in all production processes, starting with extrusion machines, slitters and winders as well as printing machines.
Especially thin films of a few micrometres thickness are extremely sensitive. Therefore, it is necessary to combine smooth running properties with high stiffness. Our customers profit from our long-term experience in this field of application.
Probably the widest spectrum of machines we supply with our products is for the non-woven industry.
Fabric for clothing and fashion articles, material for sanitary articles, flooring, automotive interior lining and material used for road construction are all manufactured under the name “non-woven.”
This wide field of application infers a wide range of different requirements and demands on our rollers such as smooth running, low bending, a small moment of inertia and maximum stability.
The roller coatings portfolio includes rubber coatings, composite coatings, high-polish coatings and plasma coatings.
Over the years, FWT has expanded its product range and invested in its own coating systems.
Production for rubber coatings was commissioned in 2013 and since 2021 a plasma coatings plant has expanded the portfolio at FWT Composites & Rolls GmbH.
Rubber Covering – FlexNite
Dependent on your application, we are able to work with Rubber compound EPDM, CR, NBR, Silicon in the hardness range of 25-95 Shore A as well as with hard rubber for the hardness range of 0-1 P&J.
Plasma Coatings – ShieldNite
Depending on the application, we can offer the right solution. Highly abrasion-resistant surfaces such as chromium oxide, tungsten carbide and ceramics, as well as metallic coatings to protect against corrosion and wear. Special non-stick coatings are also available for certain applications.
Composites Coatings – CompoNite:
Are used in all industries as abrasion resistant coating based on similar materials than the composites tubes itself. One big advantage is that in this coating we can machine all kind of grooves without damaging the structure of the tube. Some types can also be used as intermediate layer for Plasma coating to improve the bonding properties.
For the customer, the advantage is obvious. Fast and flexible production with high manufacturing depth.
For used rollers we offer a wide range of services. Roll inspection, grinding service, dynamic balancing, new coating, journal exchange or refurbishment as well as bearing refurbishment.
For your benefit, scheduling for service is kept separate from the regular production scheduling. This allows us to guarantee short lead times for service orders.
Long distances without intermediate bearings are the challenge for drive shafts, in combination with weight savings and cost reduction. FWT Composites and Rolls GmbH has more than 10-year experience in successfully designing such drive shafts according the rules of classification companies.
We know the specific requirements of this application, specifications and what composite materials are able to achieve with regard to material properties.
Our experience in the field of maritime drive shafts can also be transferred to industrial applications. Besides the importance of the shaft design, the issue of joining technologies has proven to be a key factor.
We are able to use the experience of several development projects over the last years to support you.
Apart from the various applications in the field of mechanical engineering and transport technology, there are always special applications that represent a new challenge for our engineers.
2013 FWT won a tender of the University of Bologna / Italy. For a particular type of surface investigations, the world’s largest wind tunnel was produced. FWT was responsible for the production of the carbon fibre channel with a length of 110m as well as for the assembly of the pipes. FWT built the 23 items, each with 5 m length, 900 mm diameter and 300 kilograms in a former mine in Preddapio / Italy.
